During your stay, you will not fail to taste local dishes and delicacies! Not only because Pesaro is a seaside city (and eating good fish is part of everyday life), but also for the richness of the traditional home-made dishes (handmade first courses, gnocchi, lasagne, tagliatelle and meat second courses).
Only few suggestions: try the Crescia Sfogliata (a sort of seasoned flattened bread, rolled by hand and cooked on a special pan; excellent with cheeses, cured meats and vegetables); look for a restaurant that lets you eat a good "Brodetto" (not all restaurants do this) which is an ancient fishermen's dish, a soup made with various fish, cooked in tomato sauce. And don't miss the Moretta Fanese!
Our family also really likes another typical dish: tagliatelle seasoned with bean sauce (we eat them in a trattoria located in the municipality of Novilara, very close to Pesaro; at the il Giogo restaurant, from which you can also enjoy a magnificent view from north to south of the coastal hills!).
Osteria la Guercia, underground there are parts of Roman mosaics, traditional cuisine with a pinch of inventiveness, recommended 'Gnocchi di Bacco' that are gnocchi with 'rosso conero' wine (4 minutes walk), http://www.osterialaguercia.it/
Pizzeria C'era una volta, excellent Rossini pizza (4 minute walk)
la Chiccoteca, shop and restaurant-pizzeria, course centre, organic, vegan and many other things (in our same building) https://www.chiccoteca.it/
at Moletto, pizzeria and fish at a fair price, courteous and effective; if you can ask for the rooftop restaurant at sunset (20 minutes on foot, 5 by bike)
"la Baita", fish food, at the port, western wharf, very nice tagliolini with red barbed fish sauce (10 minutes by byke, 5 by car)
“La cucèna a la bsàresa” tavern, Flaminia bay, Pesaro cuisine, tagliatelle with fish sauce, broth is available upon reservation (30 minutes on foot, 10 minutes by bike)
the Capannina (also called “il Sorpasso” or the “sixth bend”), pizzeria (but also piadina and more), view of the Baia Flaminia (6 minutes by car, if you want to use the bike, make sure you have a good pedal-assisted bicycle to tackle the six hairpin bends and what lies in between)
Altomare, restaurant on the Panoramica road, fish and pizza, sea-view (7 minute drive)
il Giogo, trattoria in Novilara, specialty tagliatelle with bean sauce and piadina, if you eat on the terrace at sunset you have a spectacular view (16 minutes by car), you must go there at least once
the fish restaurants of Fiorenzuola di Focara, in particular Osteria di Focara and la Rupe (15 minutes by car, but if you turn off the navigator and take the Panoramica road, allow 30 minutes and a few stops to take photos),
Taverna Zongo, via Castelfidardo, simple and short menu but with fresh fish, if it's not too crowded, chat with the owner who will tell you about the origin of the recipes.
Ristorante da Uldergo, via Venturini, fish, to be noted the 'common' bread of Pesaro, very quiet and family run (5 minutes walk, almost next to the Rossini theatre)
COAL supermarket, via Contramine (has everything, good meat), 5 minutes on foot
mercato delle erbe (temporary location), 3 minutes on foot, local vegetables and fruit - a different flavour! -, here there is also the Vitali bakery (try the common bread and the Maritozzi for breakfast; also try the "Crescia salata di Pasqua" with cheese)
from Katj, Corso XI Settembre (5 minute walk), fresh pasta, Crescia and cheeses
Butcher's shop - Salumeria Alessi/the cured meats boutique, via Giordano Bruno, cured meats and cheeses from the area and surrounding areas (don't miss the goat's brie when it's available)
Delicatessen bakery, il Bocconcino, viale Cialdini, 2 minutes on foot, cured meats, cheeses and delicatessen and milk.
1a Qualità butcher shop , Corso XI September, here you will find also a really good local pecorino cheese
Finally, we would like to point out the fish market, via XI febbraio; in front of the fishmonger, there is also the Campeggi gastronomy with ready-made sauces and fish dishes).
The "caffè completo" at Caffè Barrier, on Corso XI settembre
Other options are the Pasticceria Alberini (the cream tart is special), the Cafè de Paris, the Caffè Ducale in Piazza del Popolo, as well as the bars in Piazza Lazzarini and the Casina Vaccai in Piazza Mosca.
For ice cream, we suggest Germano (via Collenuccio and next to the 'Palla di Pomodoro') and Biancolatte (Piazzale Matteotti and via Rossini); otherwise Alice in the seaside area, viale Trieste, but here there is a queue to go.
For a beautiful after lunch you can ask for the Moretta Fanese, but you must remember that the original one is in the port of Fano, at the Caffè del Porto.
Tagliatelle with bean sauce (il Giogo, Novilara)
Moretta Fanese (Caffè del porto di Fano)
Gnocchi di bacco (Osteria della Guercia, Pesaro)
Colorful potato gnocchi (homemade)
